Description

Ricky Turner - R. Turner is a singer-songwriter currently living in Anacortes, WA. He has released three full
length albums since 2012. He is most recognized for his thought provoking lyricism and bold
vocals, often compared to acts like Neutral Milk Hotel, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen. He is
also the frontman of the Anacortes punk band Buffet.
Ricky was born and raised in Utica, New York. Having been homeschooled and raised in a
heavily religious environment, he had a largely isolated upbringing and kept himself busy by
teaching himself to write, draw and play music. These themes are often represented in his lyrics,
but not without humor.
Ricky’s music was discovered by other local musicians in New York who then pushed him to
record his music and tour. This lead to various self recorded demos and EPs, and eventually to
his 2012 debut album The Significance of Being Nothing. Later that year, Ricky met his wife in
2012 and they decided to move to the west coast in 2015. He is currently working on a new
album which he hopes to release in the fall of 2018.
